Our History
John
and Jean Stanchfield have been married since 1959, have raised five
children, and have 13 grandchildren. They have camped and RV'ed together
since 1959. In 1962, they rented and towed a trailer for the first time.
In 1969, they purchased their original trailer, and in 1976 another
followed. John and Jean have since RV'ed all over the northern and western
United States. In 1993 they moved to Orcas Island, Washington and began
building a new home while living in their trailer.
In 1994 neighbors and friends began asking if they could rent the trailer. Seeing a potential business opportunity, the Stanchfields purchased six new trailers, and that same year began their present company, TRAILERS TO GO (formerly, Island Residential & Trailer Services). Customers selected from a variety of available locations in the San Juan Islands, and upon their arrival at the site, the trailer was completely set up and ready to enjoy. In 1998, John and Jean added more trailers to their fleet to support the growing demand for this unique service. Ten new Nomad trailers completed a third expansion in 2001.
Their business has continued to grow. Requests for repair service and towing of privately owned trailers increased, and Trailers To Go made service calls and was able to handle basic repair problems exclusively in the San Juan Islands.
Demand for other locations for the Trailers To Go concept by satisfied customers has led to the move of the TTG Corporate office to SW Washington. Upon moving, a new fleet of trailers was purchased. We are now located in Ridgefield, WA and are happy to provide our unique service to SW Washington and NW Oregon.
